As March 7 arrives, marking the 105th birthday of 2nd Lt. Peter A. Timpo, a bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, his family can rest easy knowing he is finally home.
In July 2022, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that the remains of Timpo, 24, of Ecorse, who had been killed during WWII, were accounted for. His fate had been unknown for more than 80 years. Last spring, Timpo was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
